{PassionHR} dealing with labourers

dear members,
 
I am amit who recently moved to my father's business. Its a small manufacturing unit  which employs approx.15 semiskilled labourers. I need guidance from learned members on following issues:
 
1. On papers, I am not the proprietor of the business.. Is it possible to show myself as an employee (as manager)and how? further what are legal pros and cons of this.?
 
2. My biggest challenge is to avoid labourer related disputes? What bare minimum facilities/ record I should ensure to avoid any legal hassels.
As per my father's experience, labour courts favors labourers indiscriminately and harress factory owners. How should I approach to deal with such situation?
 
I would be grateful for advise IR/Legal experts on these and similar issues.
