[LeadersWorkshop] Thoughts to live and love by

Let us begin our today with my warm morning wishes,
and a beautiful floral show with lovely thoughts.

Our actions are a series of thoughts in our minds,
for which we need to be prepared to face the consequences.

Friends, live your today in the happiest way.
Be the best no matter where you stay.
Let your fortune so unfold,
that even the stones you hold, may turn into gold.

Have a lovely ride through the show
and enjoy your day.

Re: [LeadersWorkshop] PMP Certification.. content/material/links required

Dear Mihi,
Join the yahooroup: PMPLinks ... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pmplinks/
go to the files section and download all the files - they will all help you prepare for the PMP certification exam.
PMI's handbook for the PMP certification exam is attached, if you do not already have it.
Go through the following two books, for passing in your first attempt.

PMBOK Guide (3rd edition): The Bible for PMP aspirants.
A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge(PMBOK® Guide)is the text book for PMP® certification, and it has to be thoroughly studied before taking the PMP exam.

PMP Exam Prep (5th edition) by Rita Mulcahy: Most Popular book.

Further suggestions for your preparations:

As you go through the above two books, you should practice questions (MCQs), at the end of each lesson of Rita's book, and the online Knowledge Area Tests at PassPM.com. Evaluate yourself - the online tests generate analysis of your performance and suggest further steps for you. Similarly, as you continue to learn the processes and process groups, evaluate yourself through the online Process Group Tests.

When you feel ready to test your knowledge, take the full-length practice tests at PassPM.com, and evaluate your strength. Their analysis of your performance and subsequent recommendations should help you become ready for the exam, even if you have not gone to any training centre at all.

If you do not have time, but think you already know project management, just check your knowledge in the glossary section of PMBOK, and if you are really conversant with the terms, you can make it without the books. Just go through the practice tests at www.passpm.com (a Canadian website) and evaluate yourself with their free questions (you may complete the 200 questions within the 24 hours - but of course, it is recommended that you complete it in 4 hours). If you do well, go for the exam. If you find yourself lacking, buy the packages offered by them, and practice. If you have problems, you MUST definitely return to the suggested books.

For any assistance you may need, pls don't hesitate to contact me.

[LeadersWorkshop] Globalization: Threats and lessons

Globalization: Threats and lessons

By

  Mario Luis Tavares Ferreira

Since the end of last century we are seeing global changes never seen in recent or old history. The iron wall collapsing and the Soviet Union breaking in pieces are unique events in history because never a large empire disappeared so smoothly. Coupled with what we saw in China, moving from communism to capitalism. Never thought!

Now, with the global warming we are also seeing the burning of trillions of dollars!

Without doubt we are in a special moment of humankind.

What can we learn?

First, nothing is for ever.

Second, we need to have a longer vision and prospective scenarios without greed and special interests, and thinking global and acting global or our children will not have a world to live.

Third, the markets need control without any possible doubt even though many "easy money factories and agents" do not agree.

Fourth, remember a basic strategy: Never keep all your eggs in the same basket, referring to the investment of all your reserves in one economy or market.

Fifth, balanced global power (economical, political and military) is fundamental to a democratic world and the mitigation of inequalities.

Sixth, we are in a changing world, nothing is static, no one is the owner of the truth of the right way of doing thinks, team work and uncompromised actions are more than ever necessary to get things on path again.

Seventh, we are on daily basis learning!

Eighth, this is an endless list.

Now, let's talk about market control and threats, and put on practice the third lesson. I am highlighting this matter because I just read some news of the World Economic Forum, where an executive made a statement that governments should help the market now and then quit because they aren't efficient market managers.

I am not so sure that the market works as it should do.

To be clearer it does not work!

Despite all theories and free market evangelists. It needs to have strong regulations! As kids need to know their limits when educating them, the greed and unlimited need to create value to the shareholders and bonus to the board need to be controlled.

And the sixth lesson induces us that more than ever we need to work as a team.

Small and medium businesses (SMB) have, and always had, a special role in regional economies and employment. To accelerate the turnaround of this international crisis, it is a key issue to leverage globalization and entrepreneurship of small businesses and start-ups.

It is the same strategy of the internet beginning with the military application. Do not depend on one spot only. Divide the intelligence on several servers and geographically separated. So, if one spot blows up the net will continue working perfectly.

Making an analogy with small businesses, if we have a network of small entrepreneurs working and trading globally, the effects of local and global crisis will be mitigated in their businesses, because the connections and relationships worldwide will facilitate new opportunities, the research and discovery of new places where the crisis didn't have large impact or had less effect.

That's why I endorse and believe in initiatives that leverage entrepreneurship and support small and medium businesses, and the possible impacts of it's' success on people's life.

Mario is a seasoned manager and entrepreneur with a broad technical background, coupled with multi-cultural experience and multi-lingual skills, co-founded two high tech start-ups, and now is developing a non-profit project to leverage globally the business development of small entrepreneurs.

Winner is NOT one who NEVER FAILS......But one who NEVER QUITS!!!"

Need a proof? Read on........... .........

10 Real Life Incidents and Learn not to Quit in life and always have a hope in life that you will be successful.

2) In 1962, four nervous young musicians played their first record audition for the executives of the Decca Recording Company. The executives were not impressed. That same year shedecided to become a runner. She entered a race and came in last. For the next few years every race she entered, she came in last. Everyone told her to quit, but she kept on running. One day she actually won a race. And then another. From then on she won every race she entered. Eventually this little girl-- Wilma Rudolph, went on to win three Olympic gold medals.

[LeadersWorkshop] HR Grooming - Weakness Or Greatest Strength?

Sometimes your biggest weakness can become your greatest strength. Take, for example, the story of one 10-year-old boy who decided to study judo despite the fact that he had lost his left arm in a devastating car accident.

The boy began lessons with an old Japanese judo master. The boy was doing well, so he couldn't understand why, after three months of training the master had taught him only one move.

"Sensei," the boy finally said, "Shouldn't I be learning more moves?"

"This is the only move you know, but this is the only move you'll ever need to know," the sensei replied. Not quite understanding, but believing in his teacher, the boy kept training.

Several months later, the sensei took the boy to his first tournament. Surprising himself, the boy easily won his first two matches. The third match proved to be more difficult, but after some time, his opponent became impatient and charged; the boy deftly used his one move to win the match. Still amazed by his success, the boy was now in the finals.

This time, his opponent was bigger, stronger, and more experienced. For a while, the boy appeared to be overmatched. Concerned that the boy might get hurt, the referee called a time-out. He was about to stop the match when the sensei intervened.

"No," the sensei insisted, "Let him continue."

Soon after the match resumed, his opponent made a critical mistake: he dropped his guard. Instantly, the boy used his move to pin him. The boy had won the match and the tournament. He was the champion.

On the way home, the boy and sensei reviewed every move in each and every match. Then the boy summoned the courage to ask what was really on his mind.

"Sensei, how did I win the tournament with only one move?"

"You won for two reasons," the sensei answered. "First, you've almost mastered one of the most difficult throws in all of judo. And second, the only known defense for that move is for your opponent to grasp your left arm."

The boy's biggest weakness had become his biggest strength.

Affirmation:
"I will look for and see my weaknesses, but as I hold them in my mind's eye, I will see them for what they truly are - my greatest strengths."
